Tour de Trees
- Part 1
October 19,
2002
by David Kincannon
This Oklahoma Bicycle Society event is held at Lake Eufaula in eastern
Oklahoma, and is usually the last organized of the year. It is a
very laid back ride with no registration, no fees, no T-shirts,
no sag wagons, and no planned rest stops. Actually everyone plans
to stop for lunch at the BBQ place and for ice cream at Braum's
in Eufuala. The ride is open to anyone interested. The Saturday
routes are 50 and 62 miles around a large part of Lake Eufaula.
The only ways to get across the lake are the dam and bridges on
Highways 9, 150, and US-69. According to information on the OBS
website (see Links), in past years the ride has had fantastic fall
weather and beautiful fall foliage. That must not include the years
2000 and 2002, in which we gave the ride the alternate name Tour
de Rain.
